Memorial Videos
Memorial Videos are the perfect way to celebrate and honor the life of a loved one. Designed with healing in mind, they bring memories of happier times to family and friends and become a keepsake that will be treasured for years to come.
What is a Memorial or Funeral Video?
It is much more than a slideshow - it is a special video (sometimes referred to as a photo montage video) focusing on the life of someone who has passed away and is often shown at a funeral home or house of worship prior to or during a funeral or memorial service.
Most funeral or memorial videos require them to be produced very quickly, usually within 24-48 hours. At Hourglass Media, we not only create them in a timely manner, but we believe we do it better than anyone else around. We don't use any one stop canned memorial or funeral video program where they all look like the same cheesy videos. We listen to what you have to say and work to create a video with professional software and techniques that will truly honor your loved one.
Our funeral and memorial videos are created using music you choose (unless otherwise noted), your photos, slides, even clips of your home movies and may include favorite quotes or scripture.
Most memorial or funeral videos run about 4-6 minutes in length and are tastefully produced using a “Ken Burns” style of editing, giving “life” and movement to images.
Every photo you submit is scanned at high resolutions and is digitally enhanced and optimized for vibrant colors and clarity. Some images may need additional work to restore photos that have been scratched or damaged.
Most of the funeral or memorial videos we produced are delivered on a high quality DVD with case, although some clients may request other formats depending on their needs.
What are the benefits of a Memorial Video?
In addition to honoring the life of a person who has passed away, part of the purpose of a memorial video is to help heal those who are grieving over the loss of a loved one. Gathering the photos and resources for the Memorial Video becomes a special time of reminiscing and sharing memories.
A Memorial Video changes the whole atmosphere of the gathering - instead of people not knowing what to say, there is a spirit of hope and celebration.
The value of a Memorial Video increases over time and will ultimately be regarded as priceless, especially by the children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren of the person the memorial video focuses on.
What is included in a Memorial Video?
We scan your photos at a high resolution and use Photoshop to digitally enhance and restore your photos so that each photo used in the video looks as if it were taken yesterday. If an image or photo is in need of additional work because of scratches or other damage, we can also do that for a small fee. We combine your photos, music, and any text (such as scripture references and/or quotes) and edit them together to create a one of a kind masterpiece that is unique to each person and family. The final Memorial Video is delivered on DVD and the image files are available for purchase on a data CD.
How much does a Memorial Video cost?
- $150.00 for our basic video package
(up to 50 photos or slides and two songs)
- $2.00 for each additional photo/slide
- $2.00 per image for adding additional text
- $25.00 for adding video clips or home movies

NOTE: CD with photos included at no extra charge on orders of 10 or more DVDs.
How do we get started?
Download and fill out the information form. Sit down with your family and start going through your photos. You'll need to provide us with up to 50 still images and 1 or 2 of your favorite songs (please do not send us irreplaceable items.) Follow the instructions on the form for numbering your photos using post-it-notes. Next, contact Hourglass Media to arrange for a pickup of your items. We'll take it from there!
Do you provide other services for funerals?
